(ECNS) - The information security market in China's industrial sector will grow an estimated 19.23 percent year on year to reach 9.391 billion yuan ($1.37 billion) in 2019, according to new research.
A report by the Research Center for Industrial Information Security Development and Industrial Information Security Alliance was released at a conference in Beijing on Saturday.
In 2018, the market size was 7.032 billion yuan and the growth rate hit 33.55 percent, the report said.
Yang Yuyan, deputy director of the Internet Security Administration of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), said the industrial Internet is a key target of online attacks because it connects massive industrial control systems, business systems, and networks.
The sector also faces other security challenges such as data tampering, abuse, and cross-border data flow, Yang said.
Chen Zhaoxiong, deputy minister of the MIIT, said it is necessary to improve industrial information security with policy regulation, technology support, and talent training.
