(ECNS) - China has no plan to take a one-size-fits-all approach in the development of fuel vehicles, said Wan Gang, president of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) and also vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference on Tuesday.
At the 2019 World New Energy Vehicle Congress held in Boao, south China's Hainan Province, Wan said people should not think that China would eliminate petrol or diesel-powered vehicles in one day.
China is a large country with disparities in regional environmental carrying capacity and ecological conditions, so there will not be a "one-size-fits-all" approach, he said.
Under guidance of the CPC Central Committee and State Council, provinces, cities and regions will take measures that fit with people’s concerns and cut emissions, it was added.
