(ECNS) -- China’s smartphone owners installed 56 apps on average in the second quarter this year as the number of people using the mobile Internet reached 1.134 billion by the end of June, according to a report by Aurora Mobile, a leading mobile developer service provider in China.
Mobile phone users spent 4.7 hours with various apps per day on average, with instant messaging apps the most popular software in the first half of the year, followed by short video apps, said the report.
It also showed people spent less time on news apps since the second quarter, down about 1.1 percentage points from the previous quarter. Growth was registered in time spent on shopping mall apps, surpassing the time used in online reading.
Among entertainment apps, users spent most of their time on online videos.
