(ECNS) - Shanghai Disneyland declined mediation to settle a lawsuit filed against it earlier this year by a guest who was barred from entering the park with outside food, said a consumer rights watchdog.
The Consumer Council in Putong New Area of Shanghai said Shanghai Disneyland has stated it would not change its policies barring outside food and requiring bag checks for visitors, reported People’s Daily online.
The council said it contacted the popular theme park, believing its current policy “not very reasonable,” but Shanghai Disneyland declined the offer to reach a settlement with the plaintiff or amend its policies.
A student surnamed Wang at East China University of Political Science and Law brought the lawsuit after she was stopped for carrying snacks during a routine bag check.
People’s Daily also said a staff member at Shanghai Disneyland insisted bag checks are part of efforts to ensure safety.
