(ECNS) -- The number of confirmed novel coronavirus cases across the world has surpassed 2.05 million as of Wednesday, with fatalities exceeding 130,000, according to the latest tally by Johns Hopkins University.
The U.S. has recorded 636,350 confirmed cases and 28,326 deaths. President Donald Trump said the country has passed the worst of the coronavirus pandemic, and he will announce guidelines for reopening the economy on Thursday.
In Italy, the number of total confirmed cases rose to 165,115.
The Chinese mainland reported 46 new confirmed cases, of which 34 were from abroad, according to the National Health Commission. The 12 new domestically transmitted cases are four from Heilongjiang Province, five from Guangdong Province and three from Beijing.
By April 15, there have been 82,341 cumulative infections, 77,892 recoveries, 3,342 deaths and 1,107remaining infections in the Chinese mainland. Another 1,016 cumulative cases in Hong Kong, 45 in Macao and 395 in Taiwan have been reported.
