(ECNS) -- China Southern Airlines Flight CZ8054 from Milan, Italy landed at Haikou Meilan International Airport in south China's Hainan Province on Monday, marking the official launch of a cargo route between the two cities.
It was mainly loaded with cosmetics, clothing, bags and other fashion products native to Italy and Switzerland.
This freight route has debuted direct flights between the Italian and Swiss industrial clusters, the most important production area of fashion consumer goods in Europe, and Hainan.
It will boost trade between the two regions, and help Hainan build a global consumer market, said Liu Yadong, general manager of the Hainan branch of China Southern Airlines.
The new direct flight will save time and money in transit, with international goods capable of reaching Hainan within a mere two days.
Since the release of the Overall Plan for the Construction of Hainan Free Trade Port on June 1 last year, Hainan's offshore duty-free policy has constantly delivered benefits. Its duty-free shopping market has higher time requirements for duty-free goods to be transported to Hainan, according to a person in charge of the Hainan Provincial Department of Commerce.
