(ECNS) -- The Information services industry, also known as the quaternary industry, is emerging worldwide and will take up around 10 percent of the future economy, said an expert at a conference in Beijing on Tuesday.
The quaternary industry will address people's demands for information, so China should focus on its development, said Li Daokui, a professor at the Academic Center for Chinese Economic Practice and Thinking of Tsinghua University.
Li said China has three advantages in developing the quaternary industry: a solid industrial basis, plenty of internet platforms, and over a million young engineers with expertise in programming and IT.
Li estimated that the quaternary industry will help boost the upgrading of primary, secondary and tertiary industries. He predicted that in the next decade, China will see a large number of leading companies in the quaternary industry.
