(ECNS) -- People’s Bank of China, the nation’s central bank, on Wednesday issued a set of commemorative coins for the Beijing 2022 Paralympic Games.
The set includes one gold coin and one silver. Both are legal tender that features the official emblem of the Beijing 2022 Paralympic Games and the country’s name on the obverse, decorated with the Great Wall and snowflake patterns.
The refined gold coin contains 5 grams of 99.9 percent gold and has the denomination of 80 yuan ($12.5). Its reverse side is inscribed with the mascot of the Beijing 2022 Paralympic Games, Shuey Rhon Rhon.
The rectangular refined silver coin contains 15 grams of 99.9 percent silver and has the denomination of 5 yuan ($0.78). Its reverse side is inscribed with images of six events of the Beijing 2022 Paralympic Games, decorated with snowflake patterns and a Braille version of “Beijing 2022”.
A maximum of 5,000 gold and 10,000 silver coins will be issued.
