(ECNS) -- China has put into operation over 40,000 kilometers of high-speed railway as of Thursday, ranking first in the world.
Meanwhile, the total operation mileage of railway in China reached 150,000 kilometers, ranking second in the world.
The proportion of high-speed rail operation mileage in the total railway operation mileage increased from 0.8 percent in 2008 to 25.9 percent in 2020, and the passenger turnover of high-speed rail also surged from 0.5 percent to 70.7 percent, which means that China's high-speed railway has transported over 70 percent of passengers in China with only one fourth of the railway mileage.
What's more, China's high-speed railway also has a landslide advantage globally.
The test speed of France's TGV's V150 train on specially reinforced tracks reaches 574.8 kilometers per hour, while China's Fuxing is faster in actual running.
The commercial operation speed of China's high-speed railway has topped the world since the Fuxing train on the Beijing-Shanghai High-speed Rail was accelerated to 350 kilometers per hour in 2017.
