(ECNS) -- Using core systems built upon the Alibaba Cloud, the 2022 Winter Games will be the first "Cloud Olympics," according to the Beijing Organizing Committee for the event.
Systems for competition results, broadcasts, information releases, arrivals and departures of athletes, medical care, accommodation and transportation for the 2022 Winter Games have been transferred to the Alibaba Cloud, which has greatly reduced the cost of IT infrastructure and simplified the development and deployment of applications.
Based on the Alibaba Cloud, spectators will better enjoy watching the games due to the application of visual intelligence, algorithms, AR and other technologies.
The world's first online Olympic Official Flagship Store landed on TMall in 2018, a shopping platform of Ali, enabling customers from across the world to buy Olympics-related products at any time.
During the winter event, the official store will launch an interactive platform. Customers can learn about ice and snow sports by playing online games.
What's more, the cultural and public welfare platform of the 2022 Winter Games was officially launched on June 23, 2021. Participators can donate their steps on the platform. The sponsors of the winter games at all levels will lay runways for rural schools in economically underdeveloped areas if a certain goal of steps is fulfilled. This activity has attracted more than 110 million participators.
Against the background of COVID-19, China will use digital technologies to present to the world an effective, green, open and shared "Cloud Olympics."
