(ECNS) -- The total import and export trade volume of the Kashgar Comprehensive Bonded Area in northwest China's Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region in 2021 exceeded 4.6 billion yuan (about $725 million), a year-on-year increase of more than five times, according to information from the local government.
Kashgar Prefecture has set up a hub for goods collection and transportation in the Comprehensive Bonded Area to provide better services, lower costs and shorten clearance times, said Ma Haitao, director of the bonded area's management committee.
Businesses innovation has driven growth against the background of COVID-19. Many measures have been issued to support the development of cross-border e-commerce, such as establishing overseas warehouses, Ma added.
Innovative forms of foreign trade have contributed to explosive growth in cross-border e-commerce, with orders reaching 15 million with a total value of 370 million yuan in 2021, said Ma.
