(ECNS) -- The Mile-Mengzi high-speed railway in southwest China's Yunnan Province, an important part of the China-Vietnam international channel, completed track laying on Thursday for joint debugging and testing.
The 107-km railway will link the cities of Mile and Mengzi, both located in Yunnan's Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture, and is expected to open in 2022.
With a design speed of 250 km/h, the railway will be connected with the Kunming-Hekou Railway on China-Vietnam channel.
The railway will benefit more than 4.6 million people living in Honghe. It will facilitate the urbanization of regions along the route, boost local tourism and rural revitalization and promote the connectivity between China and the ASEAN countries.
