(ECNS) -- An activity teaching South Koreans to do Heilongjiang-style papercutting was held online Saturday.
This activity was themed with the Spring Festival and the upcoming 2022 Winter Olympics, attracting about 60 participants.
Ni Xiumei, an inheritor of Heilongjiang-style papercutting, an intangible cultural heritage in China, briefly introduced papercutting tools, materials and basic cutting methods. Then students completed a series of patterns like snowflakes and the Chinese zodiac tiger.
The online activity shows the charm of Chinese papercutting and its Spring Festival culture, said students.
2022 lunar year marks the year of the tiger in China and tiger-themed works are meant to give best wishes to the upcoming 2022 Winter Olympics and the shared Spring Festival in China and South Korea. These works also carry out the friendship between the two countries.
It is one of cultural activities held by the China Cultural Center of South Korea. Together with the Heilongjiang Provincial Culture and Tourism Office, the center will hold more online and offline cultural activities to deepen the friendship between the two countries.
