(ECNS) -- The situation inside the Olympic closed-loop is extremely safe, a chief medical official said at a press conference on Tuesday.
The press conference was held by the IOC and the Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games at the Main Media Center.
"Our understanding of the coronavirus has been changing over the last few years and continues to evolve. As it evolves, we review the situation, but they are based on science,” said Brian McCloskey, chair of the Beijing 2022 Medical Expert Panel.
He added that the situation inside the closed-loop is extremely safe and that there's no sign of infection spread, and certainly no sign of infection spreading outside the loop.
Huang Chun, deputy director-general of the Beijing 2022 organizing committee's office of pandemic prevention and control, also attended the press conference.
He said that almost all the positive cases in the closed-loop were infected before their arrival in China or during the incubation period inside the loop. “Sixty-eight percent of those have been released from isolation or discharged from hospital,”Huang added.
