(ECNS) -- A batch of COVID-19 supplies including 60,000 pieces of Personal Protective equipments (PPEs) and test kits for one million people headed for Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) on Monday.
The supplies left Humen Port Comprehensive Bonded Area, from Dongguan City, Guangdong Province and will be transported to Hong Kong via Shenzhen Land Port.
Another 80 containers of test kits for 30 million people will follow.
"Guangdong is close to Hong Kong in location, which contributes to the land transportation of epidemic prevention materials to Hong Kong. The customs department has helped solve the problem of insufficient land transportation capacity to ensure than these supplies can reach Hong Kong in time," said a person in charge from a local logistics company.
Hong Kong reported a record of 8,674 COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, with the total number of confirmed cases exceeding 30,000, according to the Center for Health Protection of the city.
