(ECNS) -- China will be able to conduct a manned lunar landing by 2030 after 13 significant technology breakthroughs in rocket development are achieved, an expert said in Beijing on Saturday.
The development of China's new-generation manned rocket is in a key technology tackling stage, said Jiang Jie, member of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) in an interview with China News Service.
It will lay a foundation for follow-up lunar exploration and scientific investigation, deep space exploration and the utilization of space resources, said Jiang, also a Chinese Academy of Sciences academician.
Jiang further pointed out that the development of a heavy-lift carrier rocket could improve China’s capacity of entering and utilizing space. It can also guarantee China’s leading position in universe exploration and space development.
