(ECNS) -- Shanghai reported 1,292 locally transmitted confirmed COVID-19 cases and 9,330 local asymptomatic carriers on Wednesday, the municipal health commission said Thursday.
The city registered 47 COVID-19-related deaths on Wednesday. The oldest among the deceased was 101 years old and their average age was 84.7. All 47 patients had underlying health conditions, the health commission said.
The spread of the virus in Shanghai shows signs of slowing, as the number of new cases decreased in the recent two days.
But we should not grow slack, said Zhao Dandan, deputy head of the Beijing Municipal Disease Prevention and Control Center on Tuesday.
The Chinese mainland reported 1,494 locally transmitted confirmed COVID-19 cases in total on Wednesday, according to the National Health Commission on Thursday.
