(ECNS) -- Regional economic cooperation initiatives should be open and inclusive, not discriminatory and exclusive, a spokesperson for China's Ministry of Commerce said on Tuesday after the launch of the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework by U.S. President Joe Biden on Monday.
“Such initiatives should promote economic cooperation and solidarity, not undermine and divide existing mechanisms. China has always been open to regional economic cooperation initiatives that meet the above criteria,” said the spokesperson.
"China will adhere to open regionalism and join hands with its trading partners in the Asia-Pacific region for a shared future,” the spokesperson added. “China is willing to further deepen practical cooperation with all parties, promote regional economic integration, foster economic recovery, and maintain regional peace and stable development.”
