(ECNS) -- China’s first 100 percent clean-energy, traceable, and green big-data center started operation on Thursday in Northwest China's Qinghai Province.
The China Telecom (National) Digital Qinghai Green Big Data Center has China’s first green-power smart supply system that integrates power, power grid, power load and energy storage, said Wu Xiaojun, governor of Qinghai Province, at the center's launching ceremony.
The center uses advanced technologies such as indirect evaporative cooling and liquid cooling. The center can keep the air conditioning off for 314 days a year, and its Power Usage Effectiveness value stays below 1.2.
Qinghai has leveraged its natural advantages to build the big data center and cultivate the industrial chain, Wu said.
Qinghai embraces abundant wind, solar and water resources, and its proportion of new-energy installed capacity ranks first in China. At present, the proportion of Qinghai's clean energy and new energy exceeds 90 percent, which bears huge potential. Moreover, with its cool climate, the average electricity consumption is 30 to 40 percent less than that in the plains.
