First Int'l standard for automated driving test scenarios makes debut

(ECNS) -- The first International Organization for Standardization (ISO) for the terms and definitions of test scenarios for automated driving systems has been issued, according to China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) on Friday.

Chinese experts have launched a series of international standard projects with peers from 20 countries in this field, including ISO34501-scenario vocabulary, ISO34502-safety assessment framework and ISO34503 -- the scope for design and operation, according to the MIIT

ISO34501 is the first to be released in this series. It clarifies the concepts of autonomous driving systems, dynamic driving tasks, design operation scope and conditions.

With the popularization of autonomous driving around the globe, the standard for testing and evaluation of autonomous driving has become a key part for international standard organizations.
