(ECNS) -- China launched its space station lab module Mengtian atop a Long March-5B Y4 carrier rocket from the Wenchang Spacecraft Launch Site in south China’s Hainan province at 3: 37 p.m. on Monday (Beijing Time).
Mengtian will dock with the core module Tianhe, which was sent to space last April. It will join the Tianhe core module and the Wentian lab module to form a T-shaped complex by the end of this year.
It is mainly designed for studying microgravity and carrying out experiments in fluid physics, materials and combustion science and fundamental physics.
The combination of Mengtian and its carrier rocket Long March-5B Y4 was transported to the launch area on Oct. 25, 2022.
