(ECNS) -- By 2025, Shanghai will reduce its energy consumption per unit of GDP by 14 percent compared with 2020, said the Shanghai Municipal Government on Monday.
Shanghai will control the total energy consumption by 2025, said the government, adding that the emission of four major pollutants, namely, nitrogen oxides (NOX), Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), chemical oxygen demand (COD), and ammonia nitrogen (NH3-N), will reduce by 1,3000 tons, 9,900 tons,16,300 tons, and 1200 tons, respectively.
In addition, by 2025, energy conservation and emission reduction policies and mechanisms will more sound. The energy utilization efficiency and main pollutant emissions control will reach the international advanced level. The circular industry and social system will be formed, and the green transformation of economic and social development will make remarkable achievement, said the government.
