(ECNS) -- A new generation relay protection system independently developed by Chinese enterprises was launched on Tuesday at Xiaowan Hydropower Station in the middle and lower reaches of Lancang (Mekong) River, marking the core control system of China's hydropower station achieving localized production, a major breakthrough.
Computer monitoring, speed regulator, excitation and relay protection systems make up the core control systems of hydropower stations, which ensures the stable operation of the unit and power grid. But, in the past, key components of the system have been dependent on imports.
A research team led China Huaneng Group achieved major innovation in over 34 technologies, among which 17fill the domestic technology gap.
