(ECNS) -- A batch of 500 tons of Lao bananas, carried by China-Laos railway freight trains with 25 cold-chain containers, departed from Vientiane in Laos and arrived in China on Wednesday afternoon.
The bananas would be sent to Changsha, the capital of southern China's Hunan Province.
This is the first "banana train" that travels directly to a specific Chinese city since the China-Laos Railway entered operation in December 2021. The "banana train" is the first under the "One Way, Two Parks" project between Hunan provincial government and Laos.
Earlier, Laotian fruit was transported to China by cargo trucks, which was usually hindered by traffic jams.
A freight train carrying cold-chain containers loaded with fruits entered China on Dec.1, marking a new China-Laos fruit transportation route.
Train transportation is not only faster, but can also ensure the entire cold chain process, in which the quality of fruit is better than via truck transportation.
The China-Laos Railway is the first international rail project built with Chinese investment and the full application of Chinese management and technical standards.
