(ECNS) -- An event remembering Teresa Teng was held at a themed restaurant in Beijing on Saturday afternoon to commemorate her 70th birthday.
The melodious classic songs of the popular Chinese singer, who passed away 28 years ago, filled the Beijing Teresa Teng themed restaurant, as dozens of her fans sang along.
Themed "Love Messenger - Remembering Teresa Teng with Deng's Third Brother", the event was hosted by the Beijing Teresa Teng Fans Association
Teresa Teng's third elder brother, Teng Chang-fu, attended the event. Fans from Beijing, Tianjin city, Shandong, Hunan provinces, Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region and other places came to the scene.
"Our family has 4 boys and 1 girl, she was the fourth in line. She had great respect for her three older brothers and was very filial to our parents," Teng Chang-fu introduced his sister's story during the interaction with the host.
Chen Yuan, who teaches at Capital Normal University, specifically brought the book "One and Only: Teresa Teng Forever" to the event. She wrote in the biography, which had been flipped through so much that its pages had come loose, "I used to only like her songs, but now I especially like, admire, and love who she was."
She told China News Service that she was particularly moved by Teng's homesickness and her promotion of traditional Chinese culture.
Dong Li from east China’s Shandong came specifically to attend the commemorative event. In his view, Teng's songs have influenced several generations. Both the older and younger generations love her music because it touches their hearts. Commemorating Teresa Teng is a manifestation of people's pursuit of the truth, goodness, and beauty that she represented, he believes.
