(ECNS) -- Bill Gates, the founder of the Gates Foundation, arrived in Beijing on Wednesday evening, starting his first visit to China since 2019, according to his official Weibo account.
He said he would meet with partners who have been working on global health and development challenges with the Gates Foundation in China for more than 15 years.
“Solving problems like climate change, health inequity and food insecurity requires innovation. From developing malaria drugs to investing in climate adaptation, China has a lot of experience in that. We need to unlock that kind of progress for more people around the world,” he added.
His visit to China is another high-profile visit, following the visits of Apple CEO Tim Cook and Tesla CEO Elon Musk.
Bill Gates is currently ranked as the fifth wealthiest person globally, with a net worth of $129.1 billion.
