World Internet Conference Nishan Dialogue on Digital Civilization to kick off in Shandong

(ECNS) -- The World Internet Conference (WIC) Nishan Dialogue on Digital Civilization will be held in Jining City in east China’s Shandong Province from June 25 to 27, according to a press conference on Friday.

Themed “The Age of AI: Building a Digital World of Exchanges, Mutual Learning and Inclusiveness,” the conference will focus on the opportunities and challenges that artificial intelligence(AI) brings to human civilization. Through dialogues and exchanges, it aims to provide a thought-provoking feast of ideas on traditional civilization and digital civilization.

Some honored guests have confirmed their participation in the dialogue, including high-level representatives from international organizations such as UNESCO, the World Economic Forum, the Global Mobile Communications Systems Association, the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, the Smart Africa Alliance, and the Global IPv6 Forum. They will engage in discussions on the development of AI technology industries and global governance.

Leaders from heavyweight companies as well as top global experts and scholars, will share their ideas regarding new AI technologies, applications, and models. Dozens of academics, and experts from think tanks, universities, and research institutions from around the world, will also contribute their insights to the development AI industry.

Ren Xianliang, WIC secretary-general introduced at the press conference that in addition to the opening ceremony and the main forum, there will also be a symposium for WIC member representatives including WIC chairman Zhuang Rongwen. Furthermore, there will be a launch ceremony for the AI Public Welfare Action Plan, as well as activities such as a digital cultural exhibition and a light show.

Bai Yugang, head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Shandong Provincial Committee, stated that this event marks the first time the WIC has entered Nishan. "Focusing on AI and digital civilization, the forum presents an important opportunity for Shandong in high-quality development. Therefore, Shandong will spare no effort in supporting the grand event," he said.

Headquartered in Beijing, the WIC was formally established on July 12, 2022. It aims to work with friends who are committed to promoting the development of the Internet to build a global platform for extensive consultation, joint contribution, and shared benefits. It attempts to drive the international community to follow the trend of digitization, networking, and intelligence in the information age, address challenges for common development, and build a community with a shared future in cyberspace.
