(ECNS) -- A total of 8,641 China-Europe freight train services were operated from January to June this year, transporting 936,000 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) of goods, representing year-on-year increases of 16 percent and 30 percent respectively, according to China State Railway Group Co., Ltd on Thursday.
To date, the cumulative operation of China-Europe freight trains has exceeded 73,000 services and transported 6.9 million TEUs, reaching 25 countries and 216 cities across Europe, China Railway Group said.
With the continued stable and positive trend in China's foreign trade, there has been strong demand for China-Europe freight train services, leading to a significant increase in volume, according to the person in charge of the Freight Department of China Railway Group.
China Railway Group has strengthened cooperation with railway departments of countries along the route and actively promoted the high-quality development of China-Europe freight trains, it was added.
