(ECNS) -- A Lancang-Mekong-Sichuan Express train carrying automotive spare parts departed from Chengdu, southwest China’s Sichuan Province on Friday morning.
The train service originated from Rayong Province, Thailand, and traveled via the China-Laos Railway from Vientiane, Laos, to Chengdu International Railway Port. It then headed to Budapest, Hungary in Europe. The train is scheduled to arrive at its destination on July 17th.
The newly launched Lancang-Mekong-Sichuan Express enables direct railway transportation from Southeast Asia to Europe, significantly reducing the logistics transit time to a minimum of 15 days. Compared to traditional maritime shipping, it saves more than half the time.
The express links the Lancang-Mekong and Sichuan-Europe express routes.
Liu Liang, deputy chief of Qingbaijiang Customs, a subsidiary of Chengdu Customs, said that
businesses only need to pass through customs clearance once to complete all procedures for goods entering via China-Laos Railway and transferred to the China-Europe freight train.
With the use of the H986 large container inspection equipment, procedures can be implemented without opening the containers, which enhances the efficiency of logistics, he added.
