(ECNS) -- The year 2023 marks the 102nd anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC). In a recent exclusive interview with China News Network, Colin Mackerras, an Australian sinologist, highly commended the achievements of the CPC in multiple areas and pointed out that those achievements of China, from maintaining national stability to building infrastructure, developing the economy, and to promoting the status of women, could not have been obtained without the CPC's leadership.
Colin Mackerras, also a fellow of the Australian Academy of the Humanities and emeritus professor at Griffith University, has been engaged in fieldwork and research in China since the 1960s.
"The changes in China since I first arrived here have been extremely great and almost all for the better," he said.
Speaking of the country's poverty alleviation, Mackerras thinks that it is a wonderful achievement. He also named other areas where China outperforms other countries, including maintaining national stability, battling the Covid pandemic, and building infrastructure, as well as the great contribution of Chinese women to the economy and society.
"I think those are really big achievements and that's due to the Communist Party of China," noted Mackerras.
He also looked at the development of China on the path of reform and opening-up and praised that China's economy has greatly advanced. The country has grown much more confident and more open as it becomes quite stable.
"In the last few years, the people that I know and anyone that I have contact with have become more confident. I think that's a good thing," concluded Mackerras.
