(ECNS) -- Eighteen motorcycles carrying 24 tourists from Vietnam entered China through Hekou Port at China-Vietnam border on Tuesday, the first tourist motorcade since the port reopened in early January.
"On my first cross-border travel from the Hekou port, I'm very excited and looking forward to this journey in China," said Liu Zhanxi, a member of the motorcade.
The tourists will be served by a Chinese travel agency to embark on a 14-day motorcycle tour to destinations such as Honghe, Puer, Dali, Lijiang, and Yading in south China.
The border checkpoint has strengthened coordination with customs, transportation, and port authorities, working efficiently to complete the check tasks, according to the Hekou Port border checkpoint.
Cross-border travel between China and Vietnam resumed at Hekou Port on January 8. Over the past three years, the pedestrian checkpoint closed due to COVID-19 while the other checkpoint of the port that allows for cargo shipping remained open.
