(ECNS) -- The sixth China International Import Expo (CIIE) has seen the participation of over 200 companies from the U.S., including major companies such as Ford, Tesla, and Johnson & Johnson, making it the largest U.S. delegation in history.
The U.S. government has for the first time set up a U.S. food and agriculture pavilion, which includes 17 exhibitors, and sent principal officials of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) to the expo, marking the first time that such senior U.S. officials have attended the event.
"China provides the soil for P&G's innovation," said Xu Min, chairman and CEO of P&G Greater China. "Chinese consumers welcome innovative products and this country has a first-class supply chain and digital capabilities. Our innovation in China can also serve other markets," she added.
The large scale of the Chinese market is another reason why U.S. enterprises come to the CIIE." China has become Marriott's second largest market," said Mao Yibing, president of Greater China at Marriott International. According to Mao, China's tourism recovered so fast after the pandemic that Marriot's performance has even exceeded the performance of the same period in 2019.
World Openness Report 2023 released on the sixth Hongqiao International Economic Forum shows that the 2022 World Openness Index falls to 0.7542, down 0.4 percent from 2021, a continued overall downward trend since 2008. However, from 2008 to 2022, China's openness index rose from 0.6789 to 0.7517. According to media analysis, China's huge population provides great opportunities for new technologies and products.
Zhou Bing, vice president of Intel Corporation and general manager of Intel China noted that the CIIE and the Hongqiao International Economic Forum help them learn much about policies and useful information.
Data indicates that the cumulative intended transaction value for the first five CIIEs reached nearly 350 billion U.S. dollars, showcasing over 2,000 representative new products, technologies, and services. Therefore, at the CIIE, many participating companies not only gain orders, markets, and creativity but also unlimited opportunities from China's modernization.
