(ECNS) -- The Lao section of the China-Laos Railway achieved a milestone on Saturday, setting a new daily record by transporting 10,565 passengers. This marks a historic high since the inception of its operations, as reported by the Laos-China Railway Limited Company.
Saturday coincided with the 48th National Day of Laos and the second anniversary of the China-Laos Railway's inauguration.
From the That Luang festival to National Day (November 24 to December 2), Laos experienced a peak season for tourism and family visits. This convergence led to a surge in passenger traffic.
According to statistics, from the commencement of operations until Sunday, the Laos section of the China-Laos Railway has cumulatively transported 3.74 million passengers and over 6 million metric tons of cross-border freight.
To manage the elevated passenger volume, the Vientiane management center of the China-Laos Railway has increased the number of normal speed trains and optimized station services.
The center also implemented differentiated services for key passenger groups, such as the elderly, young, disabled, and pregnant individuals, fostering a warm and comfortable travel environment.
