(ECNS) -- Real-time monitoring from the big data platform of China's State Post Bureau showed that a package sent at 6:26 p.m. on Monday from Kunming, capital of Yunnan Province, to Chengdu, capital of Sichuan Province, became the 120 billionth parcel delivered in 2023.
This package, containing flowers ordered by a consumer in Chengdu, will be transported via the Chengdu-Kunming high-speed rail express, with an expected delivery on Tuesday afternoon.
A small package reflects the overall economic situation, said Bian Zuodong, deputy director general of the Market Supervision Department of the State Post Bureau.
Data indicates that since March this year, China's monthly package delivery volume has exceeded 10 billion, reaching a historic high.
Entering the peak season in November, the delivery industry has experienced a daily average volume exceeding 430 million packages.
Since 2021, China's annual package delivery has surpassed 100 billion pieces for three consecutive years.
This record-breaking achievement underscores the vitality of China's delivery industry and shows that the Chinese economy is stable and improving.
To expedite package delivery logistics, China's delivery industry has optimized service models, increased investment in technology, and actively collaborated with road, rail, air, and water transportation systems. Multimodal transportation has connected the "main arteries" that drive economic development.
