(ECNS)—With a length of 135 meters and an excavation diameter of 14.57 meters, the massive tunnel boring machine (TBM) named "Yongzhou", designed for the groundbreaking Jintang undersea tunnel project, rolled off the production line Monday in Changsha, central China's Hunan Province.
The Jingtang undersea tunnel, which is designed to link Zhejiang province's Zhoushan archipelago to the inner land, is touted as the world's largest undersea tunnel.
Once completed, the tunnel which stretches 77 kilometers, could halve more than the transit time between Zhoushan and Ningbo, a port city in the northeast of Zhejiang province.
