(ECNS) -- An inaugural flight ceremony for an international (regional) air route was held at the Xiangyang Liuji Airport in central China's Hubei Province on Wednesday, marking the official opening of the Xiangyang to Hong Kong air route.
It is the first passenger flight directly entering and exiting from Xiangyang.
The inaugural flight CZ8095, operated by China Southern Airlines, departed at 12:24 p.m. on Wednesday, carrying 131 passengers.
Subsequent flights will gradually increase, including routes to Southeast Asia, according to the airline.
The official opening of the "Xiangyang to Hong Kong" air route marks a solid step for Xiangyang to open to the world.
By 2023, the Xiangyang Liuji Airport routes linked 34 cities across China, accommodating a passenger throughput of 1.79 million.
