(ECNS) -- Haiji-2, the first deep water jacket in Asia, was successfully installed at an oilfield in the Pearl River Estuary Basin area in south China's Guangdong Province on Monday, breaking Asian records for structure weight and operational depth.
The jacket will be pinned to the seafloor in the next phase.
With a total height of 428 meters and total weight exceeding 50,000 tons, Haiji-2 will become the tallest offshore oil and gas production platform in Asia upon completion.
It is located about 220 kilometers southeast of Shenzhen and operates in a water depth of 325 meters, facilitating further development of deepwater oil and gas resources at China's first deepwater oilfield, Liuhua.
