(ECNS) -- The 135th China International Import and Export Fair, or Canton Fair, opened on Monday in Guangzhou, South China's Guangdong Province. It is expected to attract about 29,000 exhibitors this year.
The Fair offers 1.55 million square meters space for exhibition, with 74,000 booths.
The exhibition this year is organized into three phases, with the first held from April 14 to 19, the second form April 23 to 27 and the third from May 1 to 5, featuring on electrical appliances and manufacturing products, household items and furniture, and clothing and other commodities respectively.
As of Sunday, about 149,000 overseas buyers from 215 countries and regions have made preregistration, a 17.4 percent increase year-on-year.
Co-hosted by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce and Guangdong Provincial Government, the Canton Fair is hailed as China’s No.1 Fair and the barometer of China’s foreign trade, with accumulated export volume reaching about $1.5 trillion and the total number of overseas buyers attending the onsite and online exhibition exceeding 10 million in the past 134 sessions.
