Residential building collapse in east China's Anhui kills 4, injures 1

(ECNS) -- Four people were killed and one is receiving intensive medical treatment after a five-story residential building collapsed at around 1:40 p.m. on Monday at Datong Township in Tongling City, east China's Anhui Province, according to local authorities. 

After thorough search and rescue, by 1:28 a.m. on Tuesday, five missing individuals were found. Among them, four were confirmed dead, while a 12-year-old girl is receiving intensive medical treatment, said local district government.

Other residents in the partially-collapsed building have been evacuated.

Investigation into the cause of the collapse are underway. 

The city of Tongling had experienced heavy rain between Saturday evening and Monday morning.
