(ECNS) -- A road collapsed near the construction site of the Metro Line 13 in Chengdu, Sichuan Province in the early hours of Friday.
A resident living near Jinli West Road said that a local property manager knocked on their door around 4 a.m., urging the family to evacuate immediately.
Some residents have since been accommodated in nearby hotels.
According to the Chengdu Traffic Management Bureau, safety measures were implemented around the affected area at 7:33 a.m. on Friday, with the section on Jinli West Road closed to traffic.
Chengdu Rail Transit Construction Management Co. reported that at 3:50 a.m., during the construction of Xiaonanjie Station on Metro Line 13, two water pipes buried approximately 2 meters deep and with diameters of 1 meter and 0.3 meters respectively burst outside the construction pit, leading to a 12-meter-long road section to collapse near No. 119 Jinli West Road.
No injuries have been reported as a result of the incident, and authorities are taking measures to ensure public safety.
