(ECNS) -- The National Meteorological Center of China issued a yellow alert on Friday for rainstorms, predicting heavy rainfall in multiple regions.
From 8 a.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Saturday, torrential rain is expected to affect parts of central China's Henan, Hunan provinces north China's Heilongjiang and Jilin provinces and Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, as well as southwest China's Guizhou Province and Chongqing Municipality.
Certain areas in Hubei, Anhui, Jiangsu, Inner Mongolia, and Jilin could receive up to 180 mm of rainfall. Additionally, some locations within these regions might experience short-term heavy rainfall with hourly precipitation reaching 80 mm or more.
China's State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters on Thursday activated a Level-IV emergency response to flooding in Anhui, Hubei and Chongqing.
Meanwhile, it maintained a Level-III emergency response to flooding in Guangxi and kept a Level-IV emergency response for Zhejiang, Guizhou, Guangdong, Hunan and Jiangxi provinces.
China's weather warning system is four-tier and color-coded, with red indicating the most severe warning, followed by orange, yellow, and blue.
