(CNS) -- The world's first artificial short-circuit disturbance test for a 100MWh grid-forming energy storage power station has been successfully completed in Xining, Qinghai Province, State Grid Corporation of China (State Grid) said on Tuesday.
According to the State Grid, the test was completed by State Grid Qinghai Electric Power Research Institute in cooperation with Luneng New Energy Qinghai Branch and Huawei Digital Power Technologies Co., Ltd., under the guidance of China Electric Power Research Institute.
"The two 35kV artificial short-circuit disturbance tests were carried out under two different working conditions, comprehensively verifying the frequency and voltage regulation capabilities of the grid-forming energy storage power station under 'double-high' grid characteristics to cope with grid events of different voltage levels", said Zhao Shichang, test commander at State Grid Qinghai Electric Power Research Institute.
The tests mainly aim to verify the regulating characteristics of the grid-forming energy storage unit and power station in response to grid events.
In recent years, State Grid Qinghai Electric Power Company has successively completed the world's first grid-forming photovoltaic-storage system grid connection performance test and the first grid-forming energy storage (weak grid) grid connection performance test, accumulating a large amount of grid-forming energy storage performance data.
The world's first 100MWh intelligent string-type grid-forming energy storage power station - Qinghai Golmud Luneng 50MW/100MWh was officially put into operation on May 31, playing an exemplary role in effectively improving new energy access amid China's weak grid environment.
