(ECNS) -- The 144-hour visa-free transit policy is now accessible to travelers from 54 foreign countries at 37 ports across China, according to the National Immigration Administration.
Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport in Henan Province, Lijiang Sanyi International Airport, and Mohan Railway Port in Yunnan Province have been added as ports of entry for the 144-hour visa-free transit policy.
A 144-hour visa-free transit policy will be implemented at the Zhengzhou Airport Economic Zone in Henan Province starting July 15. International visitors can stay in the administrative regions of the province.
The 144-hour visa-free transit policy in Yunnan Province will be expanded from Kunming City to Lijiang, Yuxi, Puer, Chuxiong, Dali, Xishuangbanna, Honghe, and Wenshan, covering 9 cities (prefectures).
The 144-hour visa-free transit policy expansions in Henan and Yunnan provinces provide more options for international visitors arriving in China.
So far, the National Immigration Administration has implemented the 144-hour visa-free transit policy at 37 ports in Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Liaoning, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Henan, Guangdong, Shandong, Chongqing, Sichuan, Shaanxi, Fujian, Hubei, Yunnan, etc.
Visitors from 54 countries, including the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom, holding valid international travel documents and tickets for onward travel to a third country (region), can stay in the specified cities for up to 144 hours without a visa, and can engage in short-term activities such as tourism, business, visits, and family visits (subject to the provisions of mutual visa exemption agreements or unilateral visa exemption policies signed with China).
The National Immigration Administration said it would continue to improve and optimize the visa-free transit policy, promote the reform of the immigration management system, welcome foreigners to China with a more open attitude, and fully serve to promote high-level opening up and high-quality development.
