(ECNS) -- The world's largest car carrier ship was delivered in Nantong, east China's Jiangsu Province on Thursday, according to China Merchants Heavy Industry.
Featuring an overall length of 199.9 meters, the ship has a length of 196.4 meters, width of 37.6 meters, depth of 14.53 meters, and designed draft of 9.35 meters. It can carry up to 9,100 automobiles thanks to its enhanced deck and internal ramp systems.
The ship is fitted with 1,500 square meters of solar panels, which will save around 30 percent to 35 percent of electricity generated by the motor.
Equipped with a low-speed dual-fuel main engine and three dual-fuel generators, it is powered by LNG and carbon neutral fuels and recognized with DNV ammonia-ready and methanol-ready notations.
In the first quarter of this year, the three major indicators of China's shipbuilding industry, including shipbuilding completion volumes, holding orders and new orders, continued to lead the world.
According to the statistics of Nanjing Customs, in the first half of this year, Jiangsu Province exported 50.02 billion yuan ($6.97 billion) of various types of ships, ranking first in China's export scale with a year-on-year growth of 72.1 percent.
Another 11 of Aurora-class car carriers will be built, according to China Merchants Heavy Industry.
