(ECNS) -- Social media X is flooded with posts talking about buying electronics directly from China after communication devices dramatically exploded across Lebanon on Tuesday and Wednesday.
“Chinese factories are overwhelmed with orders from the Middle East, verified X user @MyLordBebo posted.
The post cited a screenshot which translates “The factory where my classmate works produces earphones and microphones for customer service. We had planned to have a classmate dinner with him after the Mid-Autumn Festival last night, but he canceled it. This morning he told us that he had been arranging orders in the factory all night yesterday, all of which were for the Middle East. Many customers also required that the entire process must be produced in China.”
His post garnered over 20,000 likes, shares, and a large number of comments.
“My next phone will be from China. Time for a global ad campaign for a new certification: "Made Only in China," @EusocialApe followed.
“Modern civilization by the west is over! All products we use today, we gotta make sure it’s explosive free, therefore China is our saviour!” @SalmaKe_mohamed commented.
Some X users warned people to “keep electronic devices about 3 feet away from you unless fully made in China.”
Most countries won't trust their military and civilians using Western tech, @Philosopher254 said.
Alex Tsai, a former Kuomintang "legislator" in Taiwan, also echoed the trend in an interview. “Because they (the Middle East customers) think that Chinese mainland products excel in safety measures,” he noted.
So far, at least 32 people have been killed and thousands more injured in Lebanon’s device explosion accidents.
