(ECNS) -- China's independently developed third-generation superconducting quantum computer, "Original Wukong", has successfully achieved the world's largest-scale quantum computing fluid dynamics simulation, according to Anhui Quantum Computing Engineering Research Center.

Guo Guoping, leader of the “original Wukong” research team, said that this not only showcases China’s capabilities to conduct large-scale and high-precision fluid dynamics research but also provides a new approach to exploring more complicated scientific issues.

Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) has a wide range of applications, including aerospace, automotive engineering, and ship design.

Compared with traditional methods, quantum computing can significantly speed up complex CFD simulations, thereby shortening the development cycle and effectively reducing costs.

"Origin Wukong" is currently China's most advanced programmable and deliverable superconducting quantum computer. Launched in January 2024, it is independently developed by Origin Quantum Computing Technology (Hefei) Co., Ltd.

So far, it has provided quantum computing cloud services to more than 15 million users from 133 countries, completing approximately 270,000 quantum computing tasks.
