(ECNS) -- A wild Siberian tiger was believed to have visited Dadianzi Village, northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, according to local authorities.
The video shared by local villagers shows a string of footprints in the snow, suspected to belong to a wild Siberian tiger.
Local authorities are currently verifying the footprints, and villagers have been advised to stay indoors unless necessary.
Dadianzi Village is located within the protected area of the Northeast China Tiger and Leopard National Park. Tigers have been spotted in the past, a local villager said.
Every year, local authorities issue reminders to local villagers to enhance their safety awareness.
The Siberian tiger, also known as the Amur tiger, is one of the most endangered species in the world. It primarily lives in northeastern China and Russia's Far East.
