(ECNS) -- A group of students and teachers at Harbin Engineering University (HEU) drew the adorable mascot images of the 9th Asian Winter Games and China’s aircraft carrier “Fujian” in the snowfield during a winter-themed cultural event held on Saturday.
The team utilized the real-time kinematic positioning technology of the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System to vividly capture the lively charm of tiger mascots "Binbin" and "Nini" as well as the majesty of the aircraft carrier.
The 196-meter-long, 40-meter-wide aircraft carrier “Fujian” appears to sail through the snow on the playground, while the figures of "Binbin" and "Nini" gradually come into focus.
To ease the workload of students clearing snow on-site, the mascots "Binbin" and "Nini" were redesigned with simplified lines. Additionally, the design incorporated the university’s abbreviated letters "HEU," creating a harmonious and enriched effect.
The event took about two months to finish, including planning and preparation.
This event was held to welcome the upcoming 9th Asian Winter Games, which will kick off in Harbin on Feb. 7, 2025. It is the first major international ice and snow event hosted by China since the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.
Harbin, China’s “Ice City”, is known for its abundant ice and snow resources in the winter season. Its renowned theme park Ice-Snow World will open to visitors by mid-December.
