(ECNS) -- China’s first marine-themed post office stared operation in Tianjin Municipality on Wednesday.
It is the first of its kind in Tianjin to be located within a museum as well as the first in the country to introduce thematic postmarks.
The interior design of the post office features a ship-structure motif, blending elements of maritime, nautical, and postal culture. The overall style harmonizes seamlessly with the museum’s environment, creating a cohesive and immersive visitor experience.
The exclusive mailbox is modeled after the Longshan Eggshell Black Pottery Cup, dating back to the Longshan Culture period, or 4,000 years ago. The Cup is currently on display at the museum.
Besides, the post office also launched a range of themed postal products on the opening day, including postcards and special stamps featuring the National Maritime Museum of China.
“We will continue to explore new models and approaches for blending postal and museum cultures, offering the public fresh cultural experiences and services,” said Shao Hongfei, deputy director of the museum.
