Universal and DreamWorks' "How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World" has pocketed more than 193 million yuan (about 28.8 million U.S. dollars) at the Chinese mainland box office since hitting Chinese screens Friday.
The animated film took in nearly 54.8 million yuan at the box office on its first day in Chinese theaters, according to Maoyan, a major Chinese film database and ticketing platform.
Loosely based on the book series of the same name by Cressida Cowell, the fantasy film is the final installment in the "How to Train Your Dragon" film trilogy.
Directed by Canadian director Dean DeBlois, the film features an all-star voice cast including Gerard Butler, Craig Ferguson, Jay Baruchel and America Ferrera. The plot follows Hiccup seeking a dragon utopia called The Hidden World.
With an average rating of 9.2 by viewers on Maoyan, the film's box office sales are expected to reach 463 million yuan.
